In 1996 a girlfriend gave me my first journal to "write thoughts, poems and songs." Starting with that first journal and sifting through every notepad or scrap piece of paper that I tucked away thereafter, here is a catalog of ramblings, musings, song starts and diatribes born from the heart.

When I was 19 I read Ishmael, a novel by Daniel Quinn. It 1989 it had been selected out of 2500 submissions to be the recipient of the Turner Tomorrow Fellowship Award. Ted Turner created the fellowship to be awarded to a work of fiction offering positive solutions to global problems. Anyways, I read it and instantly fell in love with it. It was completely outside the realm of anything I had considered
